Basic information for organized tours of the Monument for Life.
Bus tours and organized groups are very welcome here at the Monument for Life site. There is plenty of room for buses and our location is close to major highways such as the PA Turnpike and US Route 30.
We do ask that you let us know that you would like to stop here. This allows us to make arrangements to provide a detailed presentation to your group and make sure they learn as much as possible about the momentus events that happened here.
As the "new" visitor's center is being built, we continue to welcome groups in the building at the top of the rescue site. Here you can experience the actual yellow rescue capsule that was used to bring the men out of the Quecreek mine, 240 ft. below the earth! Other artifacts as well can be viewed, along with your presentation!
Call Lori or Bill at 814 445 4876 for times and costs of the presentation. Thank you!
Best times to visit and our hours of operation
From October through March, the weather can be the limiting factor for the times that the Visitor's Center is open. The building that is being used is heated to only 45 degrees, but it will get you out of the wind. Please call ahead, and we will open the building if you are coming. Just wear warm clothing. We are game if you are!
